8/4/2017- My Genre

For this first image I chose to do something staged. I did this spontaneously, as one day my friends and I went to the beach and saw the sun slowly getting ready to set, and we all thought that it would make the perfect background for a photo. What I like best about it is that it captured an organic moment of friends just having fun, but at the same time also captured the perfect image that we'd been aiming and planning to get (it took almost a hundred tries.) From what I remember, I have not really taken many other photos like this. It compares to genres that I have taken in the past because the scenery around us is a beach landscape, and landscape is genre that I have captured a multitude of times in the past.

For the second image, I mixed together pictures. They both fell under the genres of environmental and places. I chose to do this because I was looking through old photos, and found the orignal two photos that made up this one, and though that they went well together. So I blended them, and I really enjoy how it came out. I have captured the genres that the two original pictures were composed of, and I have also manipulated photos by blending together as well. This compares to past pictures that I captured because I have captured a lot of landscape and environmental pictures.

Looking at past images that I have taken, there is pattern with the genre that they fall under, with the more common genres that I capture being landscape, nature, and pet photography

8/9/2017- Composition Through My Lens

Good composition

Bad composition

Good Composition Image: The composition that is applied in this image is balancing elements. It has good composition as the main subject is placed to the left off-center, and is balanced on the other side with bushes and trees. The image portrays the back of a store and a lit, empty parking lot surrounded by trees as the sun goes down. The type of genre this image is is architecture and environment.

Bad Composition Image: This image has bad composition because it is not very balanced and there's not a lot of depth. The composition this image could've been part is rule of thirds. It could've been better if things were more balanced, and it were cropped to the rule of thirds.

8/11/2017- Applying the Rule of Thirds

Before Applying Rule Of Thirds

The rule of thirds is not applied in this photo as the people are right in the middle. In order to be applied to the rule of the thirds, they would have to be placed more to the side.

After Applying Rule Of Thirds

The overall composition has been improved as now the two people are not standing in the middle, and are stood off a bit to the left.

After Applying Rule Of Thirds

The left side line of the grid runs through the girl, with the point right above her head, bringing more attention to the area where the two are jumping.

8/17/2017- Elements Of Art Through My Lens

8/23/2017- My Animated GIF

In this assignment, I took one of the photos that I used for my Elements Of Art assignment and put it into Photoshop to edit it. I had to understand how to use the filter gallery, along with other editing tools provided in Photoshop. I also had to understand how to do frame animation and how to save to web.

I had to edit my picture four different times, and each time I used a filter. Each time I used the poster edge filter, and also added other different filters. In each photo I also played around messing with the curves of the picture, experimenting until I found that the photo came out in a color that I liked. The after images portray the original image in four different fun ways.

This assignment relates to the real world industry because you can make a GIF to help advertise or promote something. For example, I've seen GIFs be used by YouTube to help promote some of their YouTube Red shows, where they'd either GIF a single scene from the show or they'd do something else that got the attention of viewers.

8/24/2017- My Name- Alphabet Photography

This is an image of the inside of a toy Lunar New Year dragon's mouth. The curve of the teeth create the letter C of my name.

This is an image of a bracelet. By taking a picture of it from above, it creates the letter O of my name.

This is an image of my fireplace. I took a picture of the top left corner, then rotated it and cropped it so that it looks like the letter L of my name.

This is an image of the fret board and strings of my guitar. Together, they create the letter E of my name.

9/1/2017- Me My Color and I

This assignment was done in Photoshop and I had to understand how to use the quick selection tool, the text tool, and how to recolor the photo. I knew I was ready for this assignment because I understood how to use the tools and software that were required.

I mainly used the hue adjustment tool to change the color of the overall image, and more specific things like my hoodie which was previously black. This changes the overall feel of the picture as it makes the image feel more tranquil.

This applies to the real world industry as it used in commercials and ads where people are trying to sell something. They'll take the image of a person and place it in a certain background or with a product and add text to talk about what they're advertising.

9/14/2017- Camera Frames

Extreme Long Shot
Medium Close Up
Long Shot

Medium Shot
Extreme Close Up

This project consisted of capturing pictures with six different frames, extreme long shot, long shot, medium shot, medium close up, close up, and extreme close up. I had to understand the different frames in order to complete this project, and I knew I was ready for this assignment since I understand the different frames, as I watched a film with my class and we analyzed the different frames shown throughout the film.

This assignment connects to the real world industry as in film and photography, a vidoegrapher and a photographer need to know how to capture the different frames in order to create a certain emotion in what they're trying to capture or portray.

Bird's Eye View

10/11/2017- Camera Angles

High Angle
Worm's Eye View
Low Angle
Eye Level

For this project, I was required to understand what the different camera angles are and where the camera had to be placed in relation to the subject (for example, the camera must be high above the subject to achieve a bird's eye view angle.) As a class, we all practiced the different angles when the teacher showed us pictures that consisted of different angles and we had to name the angle being shown.

This assignment connects to the real world industry since in film and photography, professionals use different camera angles all the time to evoke a certain feeling in the shot they're taking. A bird's eye view, for example, gives a viewer the feeling like they're above the subject or the action in the shot in a way that would make them powerful, while a worm's eye view would make the viewer feel powerless and miniscule in comparison to the subject in the shot.

This assignment has benefited me since I now know and understand the different camera angles and can now apply them to the photos that I take.

10/18/2017- Shutter Speed

1/45
1/100
1/150

This is an image of fidget spinner. The picture was taken with a shutter speed of 1/45, which allows the image to show motion.

This image was taken with a faster shutter speed of 1/100. This allows the fidget spinner to still show motion, though it appears more frozen and still.

In this image the fidget spinner looks as if it's completely still, even though in reality it isn't. That's because this image was taken with a shutter speed of 1/150.

10/28/2017- Aperture

This image was taken with an f-stop of 3, which is a large aperture, giving it a shallow depth of field.

This image was taken with an f-stop of 12, a medium aperture, giving it a regular depth of field.

This image was taken with an f-stop of 20, a small aperture, giving it a large depth of field.
